I went to a birthday party of a friends the other night. Most of fifth form (our year level) got invited, and what with underage consumption of alcohol being a big problem here, there was inevitably a lot of drinking going on, doesn't really bother me but

I'm working real hard on getting a family. I got a bunch of friends to help me hand out a lot of fliers to all the big houses in the area ;-)
It doesn't seem to be getting too much of a response, but my English teacher said something about seeing a sad homeless american boy in his mailbox.
Speaking of english right now we're doing a film study of American Beauty, which we studied in cinema studies earlier this year, needless to say, I'm ripping it up, thanks Mrs. Fanny!
Our english teacher also fancies himself a big joker too, so every time we got to the part were Angela goes to get some root beer out of the fridge (we've watched the movie about 3 times now for close analysis) he'll inevitablly spend the rest of the class asking if they still have "root" beer in the states, and if I like "root" beer, and trying incessantly to get me say something incriminating. (FYI in New Zealand, "root" means to have sex with). Cooincedentally my geogrphy teacher made that very mistake. We're studying the Cook islands, there was a flying boat tour that used to fly through there in the 1960's that was advertised as "The most romantic airline route in the world". Needless to say, he couldn't get the class settled for a good ten after that.
I took a really long hike today with some of the other AFS kids. I took tons of pictures, so if I manage to get through them I'll be sure to put them into my next post. Simon (an exchange student from Belgium) brought along Belgian waffles (go figure) Hauke, the intern from Germany that took me to lunch on my first day, commented that he felt like we were in middle earth and eating the elven bread rations given to Frodo and the gang.
Speaking of middle earth, there was some big news lately. Apparently some Aussies came to Auckland on holiday, when they got back, they wrote in their bog "Auckland is a soulless city and its inhabitants are hobbits who can't dress properly" I have a picture of the clipping somewhere, I'll upload it in my next post.
I keep promising all these pictures for next time, so here's the piece I composed to keep you all happy till next time.
sounds like you're still having a great time, and killing the academic competition... glad you didn't get in trouble with the cops : ) your composition looks complicated- too bad you're not here to play it for us, cause it would take me till you get back to figure it out!
